Visa Applicants Now Required to Disclose Social Media Accounts

Foreign nationals are now required to disclose 5 years of their social media history, email addresses, and phone numbers when applying for a U.S. visa. This is a result of a new policy that continues the Trump administration's focus on extreme vetting for visa applicants. A series of new questions were added to the DS-160 and DS-260 forms, which are online visa applications for non-immigrants and immigrants. Applicants should submit a 5 year history of their usernames and all public profile accounts.

Consular Processing may use this information during the adjudication process. Any and all information gathered from the social media accounts that is not consistent with the application may result in a visa denial.
