Karen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, followed by a Technical Writing Certificate from North Caroline State University and a Paralegal Certificate from Duke University.

Karen hoped for a job in immigration law, as she grew up almost entirely outside the United States. She greatly enjoys meeting and helping people from other cultures and countries. Luckily, the first job she landed after graduating from Duke University was at an immigration law firm.

In her current position, Karen works on a blend of family- and business- based immigration applications, as well as consular processing - the final step to entering the United States as a permanent resident. Immigration law is the most interesting law out there, and Karen in proud to help immigrants along their journey.

Karen was a Guardian ad Litem in Wake County, North Carolina for several years. In addition, she volunteered with many organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and Science Olympiad. She loves reading, learning, singing, cooking, and solving puzzles of all kinds. Karen and her husband have two children. She worked at several immigration law firms in the Raleigh area before joining Edgerton Immigration in April 2018.
