USCIS Aims to Decrease Processing Times for N-400 and I-485 Applications

In an attempt to decrease processing times for N-400, Application for Naturalization, and I-485, Application to Register Permanent Resident or Adjust Status, USCIS will move some cases to different field offices that are outside the normal jurisdiction of applicants. There has been an increase in applications over the past two fiscal years, and the number has not declined. To combat the discrepancies in processing times between the USCIS offices, USCIS will distribute cases to the offices that t have a lighter work load.

Applicants will get called into interviews at the office where their case is being processed. Biometrics appointments will not be impacted by this decision.
