New I-485 Adjustment of Status Fee for a Child Under 14

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Fact Sheet failed to include the filing fee for a child under 14 for Form I-485.

However, the Federal Register notice which announced the new fees does indicate an adjustment to the fee. If a child under 14 is filing Form 1-485 as a derivative of a parent, concurrently with the parent's application and is applying based on their relationship to that parent or under the same legal authority as the parent, the filing fee will increase from $600 to $635. The fee for filing Form I-485 for a child under 14 who is not filing concurrently with a parent, or based on derivative status, or is on a basis other than that of a parent will increase from $930 to $985. These fees go into effect on November 23, 2010. For Form I-485 and instructions, click here.
