U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced a final rule adjusting fees for numerous applications and petitions. Overall, fees will increase by approximately ten percent. Most applications will have a modest fee increase, including a $5 increase for I-129 (Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker) forms, a $105 increase for I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker) forms, and a $55 increase in I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence of Adjust Status) forms. However, there will be a reduction in fees for six applications and petitions, including the Petition for Alien Fiancé (I-129F) and Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status (I-539). In addition, there will be an increase in the number of applications for which fee waivers may be available.  The fee for naturalization applications will not be increased by this rule.  For more information on the final rule, visit USCIS here.  The changes are effective beginning on November 23, 2010. |
