USCIS has released an updated M-274, The Handbook for Employers (Rev. 1/05/2011). The handbook serves as a guide to employers completing Form I-9. USCIS has revised this handbook with new information regarding regulations, including electronic storage and retention of Form I-9. It also clarifies how to process an employee with a complicated immigration status and addresses frequently asked questions. The handbook also contains:
By law, employers must verify the identity and employment authorization for every employee hired after November 6, 1986, regardless of the employee's immigration status, and complete Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. For a copy of the announcement concerning the new M-274, click here.  For a direct link to the new M-274, click here. |
