The U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and Consulates General in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad recently announced that they are accepting visa applications from all regions of India at all visa facilities in order to increase convenience for Indian citizens and to facilitate legitimate travel to the United States.  As a result of this change, Indian visa applicants may apply for a visa at any Consulate in India, regardless of their home address or city of residence. Additionally, the consular districts of India were reorganized, as of November 2010, to help the U.S. Mission "best capture the dynamism of India's growth across the nation."
