On March 12, 2009, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) announced that the Immigrant Investor Pilot Program (the EB-5 Investor Program) had been extended through September 30, 2009. The extension was part of the "Fiscal 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill," H.R. 1105. The extension of the pilot program means that CIS will continue to receive, process, and adjudicate all Regional Center Proposals, as well as all Immigrant Petitions (Forms I-526) and Forms I-485 filed by potential immigrant investors who are basing their petition on participation in one of the Regional Centers that relies on "indirect" job creation analysis, rather than "direct" job creation. There are currently 45 approved regional centers throughout the United States.
