The launch of E-Verify Self Check, an online tool that will allow workers to check their eligibility status online, was announced by the Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  This service will allow workers the opportunity to submit corrections of any inaccuracies in their Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Social Security Administration (SSA) records. This also allows workers to protect themselves from potential workplace discrimination that could result from an employer's abuse of the E-Verify system. As of March 21, 2011, the E-Verify Self Check service is available to users who reside in Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, Mississippi, Virginia or the District of Colombia. USCIS plans to expand the E-Verify Self Check service to additional regions on a rolling basis. For further information on this new program, visit USCIS here. |
