The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has established a new mandatory electronic registration process for H-1B petitions in the 2021 Fiscal Year. This applies to employers seeking to sponsor beneficiaries under the regular cap or advanced degree exception. Companies will be required to register the company, as well as the intended beneficiary, online with USCIS. This process is not required for cap-exempt H-1B petitions. Unless there are system issues or administrative delays, registration is expected to open a few weeks prior to the first of April 2020. The registration period will be announced at least 30 days before it opens (likely mid-March).
