Effective April 27, 2020 USCIS released an updated Handbook for Employers containing several changes to the employment eligibility verification process and the automatic extension of temporary employment authorization as well as requiring new documents for foreign students in the “cap gap” before an H-1B status change. In addition, the new handbook contains several clarifications on existing policies including Form 1-9 completion guidance for authorized representatives working remotely in light of the COVID-19 public health crisis.
