U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' final rule for adjusting fees goes into effect on November 23, 2010. This means that any petitions that were not received by Monday, November 22, 2010 will be subject to the new fees. Fees will increase approximately ten percent overall. Most applications will have a modest fee increase, for instance a $5 increase for form I-129 (Petition for a Nonimigrant Worker). However, there will be a reduction in fees for six applications. In addition, USCIS has revised Form 1-129. The revised edition will be published on November 23, 2010. USCIS will accept previous editions of the form postmarked December 21, 2010 or earlier. Any applications postmarked December 22, 2010 must include the updated version.
